Union County Baseball Association News
July, 2005
Dear Baseball Enthusiast:
The Union County Baseball Association in cooperation with the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Department of Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce another season of the fall youth baseball league.
This league will begin play on Friday, September 9, 2005. All games will be played in Warinanco Park, Roselle/Elizabeth, New Jersey. The additional lighted field that was created in Warinanco will continue to enhance league scheduling. The format consists of Friday evening and Saturday games, which will continue for approximately six weekends. This format should allow for each team to play at least 12 games during the season.
Currently we are seeking only teams to participate in the league. The age requirement for all participants will be 15 though 18. All players must have celebrated their 15 th birthday on or before 9/10/05. Players who reach the age of 19 before 11/1/05 are not eligible.
Due to overwhelming response, the league will once again use wood bats only this year. The registration fee of $35 per player and $100 team registration fee will remain the same. All registration fees must be submitted before the first scheduled game. No team will be permitted to participate in the league if their player and registration fees are not paid prior to the first scheduled game.
All teams must have an adult coach. Players will not be allowed to act in that capacity. Coaches must be present at all games. Rosters must be submitted by 8/26/05. The early submission of rosters allows for all schedules to be prepared prior to opening night. Registration forms can be obtained by calling the Union County Department of Parks and Recreation at 908-527-4910. For additional information, please call Ed Jackus, League Director at 908-351-1256, or John Langan, at 908-925-7641.
The Union County Baseball Association is very proud of the success of the Fall Baseball League. We wish to thank those of you who have participated in the past and look forward to your continued dedication to this endeavor. We ask that all teams make a concerted effort to ensure their team presence as scheduled. Teams are traveling to the games and to have insufficient players is, as you know, frustrating to all. We ask your cooperation in fulfilling your commitment to the league.
Please join us for another exciting season of fall baseball in the Union County park system.
Sincerely,
James L. Iozzi
